I took the kids into downtown today to do some traditional Malaysian craft. You basically choose your own pre drawn pattern or you can draw your own. It's stenciled out in wax on to a piece of cloth. So when you go to color in your pattern the wax stops the colors from leaking into each other.

Kind of like those water color coloring books we had as kids, we just wet an area and it each had it's own color show up.

The kids had a blast and we could have easily spent the whole day there. We made a total of seven prints, three of them framed with matting all for RM120 that's $40 dollars.

Pretty good deal!

I went to a batik factory in KB but they didn't let us try to make anything.

  3. I made one of these when I went to Malaysia at age 12. I'm going to dig it out and frame it for Rayhan's future room, thanks for the idea!
