Our family is hosting a Japanese (high school) exchange student for the next two weeks.
She just got in today and is really sweet. She brought us all gifts, Ipod cases for the adults :) , hello kitty purses for the girls and pokemon coloring books for Abdallah.
The kids already love her and wont leave her side. It's really cute to see how they interact with her.
It's also a great opportunity to expose them to different cultures. A good idea if your family does not travel a lot.
Her English is not bad, she carries a little vocabulary laptop with her.
Did I mention how polite she is? She asked me if she could use the bathroom!!
We took her out to eat some good ol' American food... burgers, fries, chili cheese fries ;p

(I'm not sure what the deal is with the peace sign, she does it every time I take a picture?)
Angie any thoughts on that :)

  1. The peace sign is the young Japanese person's equivalent of smiling for the camera. And a Japanese person would never come to your house without gifts to honor you!
Great idea about the burgers. Sorry we couldn't make it. This illness really sucks, but today looks like it could be the turn-around day.
    Looking forward to meeting her!
