Sorry for the lack of posts, will update you all soon.
Amazing.
The amount of people amazed me. Yet our new President never seizes to amaze me. No matter what your opinion of him, he has the energy to stir a country that was in despair and made us believe that each one of us has the power to change our WORLD!
We were very lucky that we got to
attend the inauguration. We didn't have seats and finally found
ourselves in front of the Washington Monument. We left the girls with a
friend and took Abdallah. He was not amused. It was cold, more like
freezing and we did a ton of walking. (5 miles)
At one point Abdallah said
he wanted to go home, I told him that this was an "important day" to
which he replied "what's the big deal it's just an inauguration" I told
him that this was not JUST an inauguration, that this was the first
black president!! He looked at me confused and said... "So!"
I love him.
At that point I wanted to bottle up his innocence and keep it for him when reality set in later in life.
Or maybe it never will.
I told him that one day he can tell his children that he was there when they read about this day in their history books.
Not the bird, the country!
I'm headed there today with the husband :)
The kids are staying back with my sister.
I can't wait to see it. I did a whole report on this beautiful place when I was studying architecture.
It's one of top three places I have always wanted to see. Spain and Rome are next.
