I'm not gonna lie this past year has been rough.
I feel like my faith has remained but my intentions and actions haven't always been what they should be. Before moving here I was told by someone very close to me not to push the move, if it's meant to happen it will. I was so excited for something new, that I think I did indeed push, push, push.
With the move to a new country I was excited for the adventure.
And in that I was reminded that we plan, but He is always the best of planners.
Little did I know how much it would change my life around.
We are often put into situations that are meant to test us on many levels.
We can make it a burden or a will of strength.
Sometimes we get so caught up in the trial of it all we forget ourselves and what we stand for.
This is when life slaps you across the face and gives you a big ol' "Homey don't play that!"
This past year has proved to be a time of serious self reflection.
I realized the person I truly was.
I realized that there are times when we all wander, but in the end we always return.
I (re)realized that there is no greater power than prayer.
and in the end I realized that Ice Cube had it right all along,
'Check yo' self before you wreck yo' self'

  1. I'm glad you've been able to find some good during a hard time. And I LOVE that you referenced In Living Color and Ice Cube in the same post.
