Ramadan is upon us once again. For those not in the know, Ramadan is the holiest month in the Islamic calender. Because it follows a lunar calender, this month creeps up on us ten day earlier every year. The month is dedicated to renewing your dedication to God as well as a purification of yourself, physically and emotionally.
During this month Muslims who are able and of age will fast, only during sunlight hours and break their fast as the sun sets marked by the call to prayer.
Ones hope is that during this month you will set aside any daily activities that are unessential and devote them to prayer and self reflection.
Patience and serenity overfill your heart.
Feeding those that are less fortunate is high on everyone's mind during this month as well.
Everyone tends to be kinder and more forgiving.
It's a time to share meals and pray together.
During this month you really grasp the true meaning of community.
