It's been a long six months since I last updated. Life in Malaysia has been a little more hectic than I expected it to be. June looks like things will finally start settling down and I'll be able to finally catch my breath. Needless to say I'm still a procrastinator so I can't promise I'll be updating often ;)

You guys probably want to see pictures of Malaysia, all the adventures we've been on,
our new place... Stay tuned, soon enough.

The weather here leaves little to be desired, it's hot, humid and sticky! My usual uniform of jeans has been packed up and long forgotten. I've started wearing a lot more dresses and skirts, which is totally unbecoming of me, but I'm quickly getting accustomed to it. Plus it gives me a reason to shop!

p.s. The sun here is fierce, hence the umbrella.

  3. So glad you are back. I can't wait to read more of your adventures. Just looking at you makes me hot. Cute outfit, but there has to be a long sleeve shirt that isn't so heavy. Your dedication to your religion and Allah are inspiring. At times when I see woman of your faith, it makes me feel quilty for complaining of being hot because of the modesty clothes we were in our religion (Mormon). I know you don't wear all black, but if you have time to explain why do some Muslim woman wear all black. I am living in Germany for the summer and have seen several muslim woman wearing all black. Do they were this because someone died?? Why not white or other colors????

    1. It's a cultural thing. They usually put on the 'abaya' over their clothes just to be more modest. I'm not sure why black, maybe to not draw attention in bright clothes. It's usually standard in Arab countries.

  6. Asalaamu Alaikum

I would love to hear how you are adapting to Malaysia because I lived there for 4 months back in 2000 and couldn't adapt at all. I see your house looks much better than the one I stayed in though (wooden house on stilts in the village).

Why women wear black ( I don't personally) is because of one sayings of the prophet where when the verse of hijab came down and the women all came out looking like crows. Crows are black so now lots of women think black is mandatory. It might have really been the only thing they had access to. Clothes dying is something that has evolved a lot over the years. In the olden days only kings could afford purple for example.
